Nurture Early Bonds with Promoting First Relationships Program

The Promoting First Relationships (PFR) program is an evidence-based initiative designed to empower parents and caregivers to foster young children's social and emotional development through responsive, nurturing relationships. This 10-14 week in-home service promotes secure bonds, enhances parental confidence, and supports child development. Utilizing a video feedback approach grounded in attachment principles, PFR equips caregivers with practical insights into real-life situations, emphasizing the crucial role of early relationships in a child's development. Caregivers learn essential skills such as building trust, understanding nonverbal cues, and responding to challenging behaviors with empathy. By participating in PFR, caregivers enhance their bond with the child and lay the foundation for the child's success across social, emotional, behavioral, and cognitive domains.

Stabilize Your Family With Family Preservation Services

Family Preservation Services (FPS) is a dedicated program to support referred families in maintaining a safe and unified environment, mainly when there is a risk of out-of-home placement for one or more children. With a focus on enhancing family functioning and safety, FPS offers a range of essential services spanning parenting strategies, advocacy skills, crisis stabilization, and counseling, among others, to prevent child placement and resolve safety concerns and conflicts within the family unit. Lasting up to six months, FPS endeavors to keep families together by empowering them with valuable skills and resources tailored to their unique needs and circumstances. Through FPS participation, families can acquire new skills in parenting, communication, and conflict resolution while also accessing vital community resources to meet basic needs. Initiated upon request from DCYF caseworkers, FPS engages families in developing personalized plans to address concerns, with therapists offering support in the privacy of their homes or community settings. FPS provides a holistic approach to nurturing family stability and well-being, ensuring that progress is communicated effectively to caseworkers to facilitate ongoing support.

Resolve Conflicts With Crisis Family Intervention Services

In response to the vital need for services among families navigating conflict, DCYF has recognized the necessity of providing parents, courts, and law enforcement tools to mitigate the expenses linked with foster care and juvenile justice system involvement. This acknowledgment has led to the evolution of Family Reconciliation Services (FRS) into Crisis Family Intervention Services (CFI), which offers up to 12 hours of in-home counseling within 45 days. With a commitment to prompt intervention, therapists meet with families within 72 hours of referral. CFI's primary objectives encompass resolving immediate crises and equipping family members with essential skills to address recurring conflict areas. Serving adolescents aged 13 to 17 and their families, CFI caters to at-risk youth, children requiring supervision, and families in conflict, all referred by DCYF.
